KNX Bus Cable (Green, 2-pair twisted)

Specification: YCYM 2x2x0.8mm (EIB standard bus cable)

This is the backbone of any KNX automation system. One cable connects all KNX devices on a single bus line — up to 64 devices per line. It carries both data and 30V DC power to devices.

  • How many: 1 cable per device location (star topology from panel), or daisy-chain within rooms

  • Can Your Electrician Handle This Alone?

    Short answer: No. A residential electrician handles power distribution (MCB panels, socket circuits, lighting circuits). Automation wiring is a different discipline — different cable types, different topologies, different termination standards.

    Here is what goes wrong when electricians handle automation wiring without guidance:

    1. Wrong cable placement — KNX bus cable routed alongside power cables (causes interference). Minimum 10cm separation required.

    2. Insufficient conduit sizing — 20mm conduits used where 32mm or 40mm are needed. You cannot pull HDMI through a 20mm conduit.

    3. Missing cables — Electricians pull power to curtain motors but forget the control signal cable. The motor works but cannot be automated.
